Healthy Heart, Healthy Soul

In our fast-paced world, we often find ourselves forgetting the most important piece of what keeps us going – our hearts. Your heart is where you feel your love, find your patience, and share your positivity. It is the center of your being and it keeps you going. It is so important to keep your physical heart healthy just as much as your spiritual heart.

Your heart works every single second of your day. There is no overtime, just a steady 24/7 schedule with no breaks. It pumps 5 quarts of blood through your body every minute – that’s nearly 2,000 gallons of blood every day. Keeping your heart strong and healthy is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health, and the less stress you’re putting on it, the better it will function to keep you going.

In honor of American Heart Month, here are some tips for a healthy heart from the American Heart Association:

  • Get Active – Aim for 30 minutes a day of cardio activity.
  • Eat Healthy – Pick foods low in saturated fats, cholesterol, and sodium.
  • Stop Smoking – Smoking increases your risk of heart disease and circulatory system failures.

Let us remember that scripture also reflects on keeping our temple, a gift from God, healthy and full of spirit.

“A heart at peace gives life to the body”. – Proverbs 14:30
